Scholarships & Grants Application
Information and Instructions
The Vermont Italian Cultural Association (VICA) provides funding opportunities to individuals who are seeking to broaden their knowledge of Italy, including the Italian-American experience, the Italian experience, Italian language, arts, music, history and culture. Those interested and eligible are encouraged to apply for consideration.
Eligibility
Must be a Vermont resident, a student attending an accredited Vermont school or those with a relationship to Vermont. Immediate family members of those serving on the Board of Directors or the Scholarships and Grants Committee are not eligible to apply.
Application Deadline
The 2024 Application cycle begins November 1st. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2024
Notification: Applicants will be notified no later than April 15th if your funding request has been approved.
Funding
VICA awards up to three scholarships/grants ranging from $500 - $1,500 to individuals. Applications are reviewed by the VICA Scholarships and Grants Committee and are recommended to the VICA Board of Directors for approval.
Requirement of Recipient
Within six months of project completion, recipients are required to share their experience or accomplishment with VICA and the broader community through one or more means. This may include a live presentation, an accessible electronic presentation, or photographs and an article published in the VICA newsletter or other print mediums. VICA is open to other innovative methods of communication. It does reserve the right to approve the grantee's method(s) of communication and to publicize each awarded grant, including the grantee's name, affiliation (if any), and photo.
Application Instructions
Applicants should submit a PDF or word document providing complete responses to each of the prompts/questions on the application. Although there is no specific word or page limit, the application is intended to encourage focused responses that align with the VICA Scholarships and Grants Committee's application and review criteria. Typically completed applications are 3-5 pages. Two letters of reference are also required. (See further instructions on the application).
