About the Event

The Vermont Italian Cultural Association presents a lecture on Mozart with our host William Fulton.  You can read a bit about William below.  The presentation will be on February 20 at 7pm via Zoom.

It may seem surprising that some of the finest Italian operas were written by a composer from north of the Alps. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s works, especially his three operas written with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte—Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte—are enjoyed throughout the world and recognized for their brilliance. We’ll take a closer look at these and other operas and the genius who wrote them.

William Fulton is an expert on opera history who has lectured on opera for the Metropolitan Opera Guild, New Orleans Opera, Hot Springs Music Festival, Opera Mississippi, and other organizations.  He led the opera seminars in the Summer Classics program at St. John’s College in Santa Fe and was a frequent panelist on the Opera Quiz on the Saturday broadcasts from the Met.  He has performed with a number of companies and is presently an actor at New York’s Metropolitan Opera. He has led opera tours to Salzburg, Bayreuth, Munich, Vienna, Poland, and a host of festivals in Italy, including Verona, Torre del Lago, Macerata, and Pesaro.
